Meet Our Founder

Saundra Davis, MSFP

Growing up in a low-income community, I vividly remember the constant stress and worry about money.

Even as my income grew, I struggled to feel financially secure and confident. It wasn’t until I returned to school in my forties that I took the initiative to take control and create a better life for myself and others.

I earned a Master’s degree in financial planning and started a new career with a passion for empowering people through sharing what I learned about navigating the complexities of money. However, I quickly noticed a lack of diversity in the personal finance field, particularly the absence of Black women. I also saw a significant gap in accessible and culturally relevant personal finance support for people looking to improve their situation.

Everyone told me I’d make money by serving high-net-worth individuals.

But that wasn’t my path.

Instead, I created a nonprofit small business incubator to support new financial planners who wanted to serve ignored and underserved communities. Through this work, I realized the technical aspects of money management—budgeting, saving, and investing—were only part of the solution.

Recognizing the limitations of traditional financial education models, I learned more about the intersection of money and psychology. I completed certifications in coaching and mindfulness, developing a holistic approach that combines practical financial knowledge with a deep understanding of human behavior. If we decolonize how we shame people and put an end to treating financial missteps as character flaws, greater progress is possible.

And that’s how Sage Financial Solutions was born—out of a fiery passion to train a diverse cadre of financial coaches who can provide cultural humility to clients from all walks of life.
